With just a few small changes and repairs to your home, you can drastically increase the amount of money you can get on the HDB resale price of your home. These do not have to cost a lot of money, but can be very effective at helping your house sell quickly when it is placed on the market.

One of the first things you should do is to de-clutter your home. Clutter makes your house look untidy and unappealing and it can also make the living space look smaller and as though there is not enough space to meet basic storage needs. Anything that you have not used in more than a year should be packed up and donated to a charity.

Cupboards, pantry and wardrobes should all be neat, organized and tidy. Items should be arranged in a logical manner and home decor accents like storage boxes should be purchased to place all the bits and pieces in neatly. When these spaces are well organized it sends potential buyers the message that you look after all areas of your home and keep it maintained.

Everything in the house should be in good condition. If there is anything that is broken, then it will need to be replaced or fixed. Wooden floors should be polished, tiled floors might need re-grouting and carpets should be expertly cleaned with a dry wet vacuum to get all the dust and dirt out.

All light fittings and fans should be thoroughly cleaned and scrubbed down. These are often forgotten about when cleaning and can have a lot of dust and grime built up on them. All chrome bathroom fittings should be in good condition and light switches and plugs all working and safe.

The most used rooms in the house should be re-freshed with a new coat of paint. These areas tend to be the kitchen, living room and bathroom. Use neutral colors in these areas as people can be put off by colors that do not appeal to their own personal tastes.

Before you invite a real estate agent to inspect your home, you should take a critical view of your house and attempt to fix up all the parts that you can identify as needing a little improvement. You do not have to spend a lot of money on doing this, but little changes can make a big difference to the sale price and the length of time it takes to sell.
